This site is the home of a current restoration project of a small collection of Morris J type and JB vans. The first to be featured was a Morris JB panel van with the overhead valve engine.
Initial work carried out had been to replace the oil and filter (the oil filter is the screw on type – it was fitted with a unipart filter, part number GFE443, I have fitted a Mahle OC21 which fitted fine) and the spark plugs (It had NGK long nose plugs fitted – I have used NGK4510 short nose plugs and it runs much better with these). Ignition timing was also reset.
It has an SU carberettor which I am not sure how original this is – any comments appreciated. So this week had the carb stripped and cleaned and the needle re-aligned. It starts nicely without choke.
New mirrors from vintagecarparts.co.uk have been recently fitted.
Since this article was first written the van has been completed and work then moved to a JB Milk Float. You can find more information on it elsewhere on this site.
